BIRD WATCHING AND PHOTOGRAPHY IN AGVA

BIRD WATCHING

Bird watching is an observation sport, which provides a way to see nature through a bird's world. The total amount of bird species in Turkey is equal to the amount of all of Europe. Some of the most important reasons of Turkey’s being prosperous regarding bird species is that geographically Turkey holds rich wetlands and is located on migratory routes. In recent years, bird watching in Turkey is getting increasingly popular in parallel with the developments in the world.

As you take a hike or canoe trip in Goksu River, some of the birds you may observe are robins, kingfisher, goldfinch, greenfinch and nightingales.

If you are taking a walk on Asiklar Yolu by the Yesilcay River, you may come across a hernshaw, cormorant or even a blackbird.

If you are walking in the forest, a nightingale, woodcock, sparrow hawk, falcon, woodpecker or a swallow may accompany you.

If you are enjoying the beach, it is likely you will see a hernshaw or a seagull and if your lucky enough maybe even a snowy owl.

If your not a avid bird watcher, you may assume all birds are sparrows. You should take a look at our guide below for some of the birds you could encounter during your trip to Agva.

What do you need for bird watching?

Binoculars

Binoculars are the most important equipment for bird watchers. Watching birds through good binoculars allows you the chance to see the colors and the shapes of birds more clearly.

Notebook

You need a notebook in order to take notes of all the birds you identified or not. On this notebook, you may write down the features of a bird you see such as its colors, sound, habitat, size, shape, etc. It is also helpful to write down the environment, heat, observation time and names of other bird watchers. Keeping notes about birds is useful to learn more catchy information and remember them later. When you visit the same place in the future, you can compare your notes, identify the area’s bird migration schedule and make a list of the birds in that area. Keeping notes and sharing these notes with other bird watchers are important.

Field Book

Bird watching field books are helpful resources that include detailed information and photographs about bird species. These are the most important sources to get more information about birds.
